Unilever Supports the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower

A 2-day event featuring live music, events and free Unilever products gives the crew a welcome relief from training.

Sailors and Aviators of the USS IKE were given an early reward for their deployment training this year. An exciting 2-day event took place on the hanger deck, provided welcomed entertainment and stress relief.

Unilever products were lined up on tables for the crew: AXE, Dove and Dove Men+Care products and Lipton Tea & Honey sticks were handed out by the ship’s Morale Welfare Recreation personnel and eagerly enjoyed by the 5,000 men and women aboard ship.

Meanwhile, Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, Inc., a national charity that began at Unilever’s headquarters in New Jersey, coordinated a plethora of activities for the crew to enjoy: a tennis tournament (the mobile court provided by The US Tennis Association and its partner Connor Sport Court), a Madden Football Xbox 360 video competition (supported by Microsoft Xbox and EA Sports), live music from the Brother Gravity country rock band, and a fitness competition (put on by the folks at TRX Fitness—the same company that produces mobile resistance exercise gear that AaSP sends to our Troops overseas). Other companies participating included Ten Gun Design, Leatherback and Sunrise Identity, all donating services for the event.

The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders were also in attendance, cheering on the video competition, performing a variety show for the crew and signing autographs and taking pictures the entire time.

The event was a huge success, the crew enjoyed a relief from the 18-20-hour training days, and Unilever was able to help lift the spirits of these brave men and women.
