AXE Co-Sponsors X Bowl Afghanistan 2010

AXE, along with Atlas Air Worldwide, helped send the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders to entertain and cheer the U.S. troops. The cheerleaders toured several bases in Kuwait and three bases in Afghanistan before arriving at the X Bowl finals at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan.

The first-ever X Bowl, a video game competition for soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen, helped everyone forget about war for a few hours and featured EA Sports Madden NFL 11 for the Xbox 360. Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon helped coordinate the tournament, along with Microsoft Xbox 360, the USO and Armed Forces Entertainment.

Four elimination tournaments were previously held. Each of the four finalists from the elimination rounds faced off on October 31, 2010 in front of hundreds of coalition forces on a big screen TV.

During and after the tournament, the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders performed, entertaining the troops with song, dance and even a push-up contest. After the First Ladies of Football rocked the house, they signed autographs and posed for pictures with the troops.

The cheerleaders saw what they did as bringing a little piece of home to the troops. Those in attendance said it was great morale booster, which was evident by the smile on everyone’s faces.
